How Celluloid Film is Made
“If you want to do a film, steal a camera, steal raw stock, sneak into a lab and do it!”
Werner Herzog
“If you ask me to play myself, I will not know what to do. I do not know who or what I am.”
The late great Peter Sellers, born 86 years ago today.
My films are intended as polemical statements against the American ‘barrel down’ cinema and its dis-empowerment of the spectator. They are an appeal for a cinema of insistent questions instead of false (because too quick) answers, for clarifying distance in place of violating closeness, for provocation and dialogue instead of consumption and consensus.
